Dale Earnhardt's First Winston Cup Victory

Earnhardt_2  With the big race weekend coming up at Bristol Speedway, I thought it would be nice to post a photo I took of Dale Earnhardt during the Southeastern 500 as the race was called back then. It was April 1, 1979 and Earnhardt won $19,800 for his first Winston Cup victory. Little did we know that day how Dale Earnhardt would go on to win seven Nascar championships, equal to Richard Petty. At the time, there were only two sets of grandstands. One on each side of the speedway.
